If all you want to do is publish a blog, some information pages and provide a contact form then WordPress is a very good option. WordPress is a system which is easily able to satisfy the publishing needs of bloggers, small business and informational websites. There are a wide variety of plugins which extend the functionality of WordPress taking it far beyond a blogging platform. WordPress is therefore able to evolve with sites as they mature.
WordPress does have its limitations though – the main limitation is the core datatypes it supports: users, pages, posts and taxonomy terms. Beyond these core objects it is difficult to support custom types, eg. book, country, person, in a serious way. Sites which require this kind of functionality are better suited to content management systems such as Drupal.
Cruncht has released a small demo plugin, WordPress Wordle, which dumps out text suitable for import into a Wordle.
